8 Tortured Yaoi Anime Series Full of Angst
Boy’s Love has a particular affection for its wounded characters, however, it’s not just reserved for Yaoi. Angst is a really simple approach to stir up drama and get sympathy from a different character in the show as a fast fix for some emotional solace. But, having tormented characters and an overly dramatic history isn’t always a negative thing. We have suggestions if that’s your thing.
Here are the Top 8 Tortured Yaoi Anime Series Full of Angst. Without further ado, let’s see the different recommendations. Be aware of the spoiler.
1. Ai No Kusabi
In the world of Amoi, a person’s social standing is largely determined by the colour of their hair. This civilization is ruled by the AI supercomputer Jupiter and its ruling body of flawless blondes, known as Blondies, who reside in Tanagura, the nation’s capital. The darker-haired people, on the other hand, live out their days in the lavish metropolis of Midas and its surrounding slum Ceres. They are referred to as mongrels, and the majority are unable to leave the slums. Riki, a little kid, vanished from the Ceres slums three years ago. Riki used to be the respected leader of the gang Bison, but he was forced to give up everything he had worked for after having an unexpected meeting with Iason Mink, an elite Blondie. The young man was kidnapped from his house and made to serve as Iason’s pet. Riki has suffered innumerable insults to his dignity over the last three years, and his stay in Tanagura has only served as a sort of agony. Now that Riki is back, Bison rallies behind him once more. But now more than ever, he runs a far higher danger since there is always somebody willing to sell him out.
2. Betrayal Knows My Name
In the anime, Yuki Sakurai, an orphan, can touch someone and view their traumatic experiences. He’s been getting hate mail lately, and one starry night he encounters a handsome man. Yuki’s long-forgotten background is reawakened by this stunning stranger, who draws him more into a mystery. This entire series is just a stream of anguish. There are additional dramatic moments as the characters battle against their fate since the story also features a battle-oriented narrative in which all the characters possess some kind of ability.
3. Descendants Of Darkness
The responsibility of Tsuzuki Asato, a young and awkward shinigami, is to ensure that the deceased remains in the appropriate world. Even though Shinigami usually work in couples, he finds it difficult to keep one. Asato is finally matched with the sarcastic Kurosaki Hisoka. The two discover themselves getting closer as they look into each case. The Descendants of Darkness summary does not indeed seem dark, in contrast to several of the other series listed here. Yet, when it comes to its reputation for anguish and drama among the yaoi community, it ranks directly below Loveless. They practically employ every tactic in the book to create that anguish.
4. Mirage Of Blaze
In this anime, the rebirth of Lord Kagetora has been discovered by Takagi Ougi. The more experienced Nobutsuna Naoe tells him this. This implies that he has acquired the capacity to combat demonic spirits. The previous reincarnations could recall their former lives, but Ougi cannot. Due to the mistreatment and passionate history, he shared alongside Lord Kagetora, Naoe feels grateful for this. They now have a shared battle against evil while trying to sort out their complex, multigenerational connection. One party in the romance is young and innocent, and the other party has baggage weighing 10 tonnes from falling in love with the young character’s terrible history. There are many feelings to sort through.
5. Legend Of Duo
Mankind is condemned to failure because it lost Purana, the essence that sustains all living things. A vampire by the name of Duo revealed the Purana secret to humanity because he could not bear to see them perish. Zieg, a fellow vampire and friend who is more than just a friend, will now punish Duo, just as Prometheus did. An element of anxiety is nearly always there when dealing with vampires. It gets a little more complicated when two individuals who have feelings are trying to murder each other. Early in the twenty-first century, humanity is doomed. The only thing standing between mankind and extinction is the blood of a vampire. This is because society has been driven to the verge of extinction due to a mystery virus that takes the essence of human existence. For many years, vampires have kept the cure for the virus a well-guarded secret, which has caused a huge breach between them and humanity and the world’s descent into anarchy. A vampire by the name of Duo is now being hunted by the ruthless vampire Zieg for betraying his kind by disclosing the key to saving humanity. Zieg’s feeling of duty, however, causes him to be torn: should he murder the person who abandoned his people, or would his relationship with Duo in the past cause him to reconsider?
6. Loveless
In this anime, young Ritsuka has amnesia for an unknown cause, which is difficult enough without having to deal with the tragic death of his sibling. He is contacted one day by a guy who claims to have fought with Ritsuka’s brother. Agatsuma Soubi asserts that his brother also left him Ritsuka, which he claims to have inherited. Together, they investigate the circumstances behind Ritsuka’s brother’s death and the enigmatic group that may be to blame. Anxiety that has been amplified to the theatrical level is loveless. Everything is treated as if it were life or death, which it occasionally is. Loveless has enough to offer if you want your BDSM power plays with a side of cat boys, brutality, and perhaps dead brothers.
7. Togainu No Chi
Japan was occupied and given a new name following the third world war. Boys now participate in a bloody game of Igura played in back alleys where the winner of the tournament must confront the other competitors. Yet, a less aggressive variation of the game is called Blaster. Akira is an expert at Blaster, but after being charged with murder, he is forced into the dangerous realm of Igura to establish his innocence. This series was also a boy’s love visual novel game from Nitro+CHiRAL, which explains why the premise sounds eerily similar to Dramatical Murder. However, it also suffers from the same fate as anime, where much of the boy’s affection and the most horrifying violence is cut from the series. Yet, Togainu no Chi has a reputation for being somewhat cruel, which goes hand-in-hand with anguish like an achillea friend.
8. Dramatical Murder
In this anime, two sports are played by young people on the streets of Midorijima’s former residential area. The first is Rib, a traditional gang-based turf battle game. Then there is Rhyme, a game that must be played with a partner at all times and is entirely performed in a virtual environment. Aoba has little interest in either, but due to unexplained events in the neighbourhood, he is forced to get involved in both in addition to something much more serious. A boy’s love graphic novel by Nitro+CHiRAL served as the inspiration for Dramatical Murder, yet interestingly, 90 percent of the boy’s love was excised from the anime. Unfortunately, all that’s left are the crumbs, the innuendo, and one OVA packed with the sexier dead ends. Putting that aside, since it was adapted from a visual novel, you get a variety of graphically appealing characters from each path, and each one of them, of course, has a tragic background that the main character must learn about and attempt to make up for.
9. Killing Stalking
Yoon Bum is a damaged, wounded, and shattered person whose mental instability and solitude have caused him to turn to inappropriate outlets for his suppressed feelings. Bum’s passion for his attractive classmate Oh Sangwoo is so strong that he has started following him because of his frail mental state. Bum discovers a torture dungeon and a nude young lady bound, gagged, and crying for rescue one day while prowling about Sangwoo’s residence. This woman’s life is doomed, and Bum is soon found and unable to flee either. Sangwoo chooses Bum to be his newest pet and victim, his gaze disgusting and insane. The realm of physical pain, poisonous dependency, and abuse disguising as “love” is what the psychologically traumatised Bum will encounter.
10. The Warehouse
Author Killer Whale’s Warehouse is a Korean online comic (Manhwa) that was released by lezhin. This anime series’ official English translation is currently unavailable. Kim Dohyun, 28, is employed in a hopeless position and has nearly little money in his bank account. His captivity by a scarred guy, who appears to have some type of baffling reason for holding him hostage, only starts when he is unexpectedly taken during the day. 62 chapters of Warehouse are still active.
