Top 20 Reasons to Watch/Read Mushoku Tensei

This page is devoted to the light novel series Mushoku Tensei and the films that followed. Japanese light novel series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, often known as Mushoku Tensei, was written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka. On November 22, 2012, the author released the first instalment of the series as an online book series to the website Shosetsuka ni Naro. Following the success of the website, it was purchased by Kadokawa the following year with their publishing business Media Factory, and on January 23, 2014, it formally launched its publication as a light novel series.

Mushoku Tensei quickly rose to prominence during the Winter 2021 anime season when it began airing in January 2021. Some claim that either you love or detest Mushoku Tensei as an anime. Because Rudeus, while inhabiting a young body, is still a perverted guy, many viewers despise him.

Here are the top 20 reasons why you must watch the anime and read the famous manga series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.

  • The Plot: After the passing of his parents, a 34-year-old unidentified Japanese NEET is forced out of his house. He realises that his existence was ultimately meaningless after reflecting on himself. While crossing a street, he comes upon a speeding truck headed toward a gathering of kids. To make a difference for once in his life, he manages to save one of them before being struck by the truck and dying.

He discovers that he has been reborn in a realm of magic and sword after awakening in a baby’s body. He decides to give up his former identity in favour of Rudeus Greyrat and commits to succeeding in his new life. Rudeus develops a high level of magic proficiency thanks to an inherent affinity and early training, assisted by the intuitions from his former existence. He studies under the demon mage Roxy Migurdia as a youngster, befriends the half-elf Sylphiette, and instructs the aristocratic heiress Eris Boreas Greyrat. Rudeus makes an effort to embrace this new life without any regrets.

Mushoku Tensei-Top 20 Reasons to Watch/Read Mushoku Tensei

  • Genre: The classic light novel which returned to the series named Mushoku Tensei written by Rifujin na Magonote served as the basis for the high fantasy anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.

  • Comedy: Mushoku Tensei is controversial, but it makes sense given how offensively it handles topics like paedophilia, enslavement, and sexual assault. Surprisingly, a common omission is a fact that Mushoku Tensei takes place in a mediaeval world. Mushoku Tensei goes directly into the issues of the past, unlike other dramas that seem to gloss over societal issues. It is not scary to forgo everyone’s rating to explore the mediaeval civilization and culture that were formerly thought to be normative.

I would like to point out that comedy is a personal experience; what you think hilarious may not be at all natural to another person. As a result, one of the key factors contributing to the conflicting reactions to Mushoku Tensei is this particular aspect of the show. Even while it isn’t a comedy like Konosuba, there are plenty of funny moments that are unquestionably improper. You might not find the series as intriguing as the score suggests if you can’t stand a main character who is a paedophile and twisted humour.

  • Art and Animations: This truly needs no explanation. It’s clear from the teaser that Studio Bind’s debut effort boasts stunning aesthetics. The faces of the characters and the entire layout are incredibly beautifully done. The Six-Faced World is a wonderfully colourful and lovely place when Rudeus first reincarnates there, displaying the awe with which he views his new life. Later episodes, which depict Rudeus and Eris’s more adult exploits, are considerably darker as the plot progresses. The main protagonists eventually discover more about their planet, particularly after the rush of mana that upends their existence. By the time Rudeus’ team vanquishes a monster after the first episode of season 1, we can tell that the anime has a diversified aesthetic with both happy and sad moments.

  • Characters: From the outset, it is quite evident that our primary character is not intended to be loved. Rudeus was a total failure in society in his former existence. He took advantage of his parents, neglected to attend their burial, and never achieved anything in his life. But perhaps it was never intended for us to like him in the first place. His human shortcomings not only make him a relatable figure but also provide him with the chance to grow. Rudeus is plagued with remorse and regret, and he sees this second chance as an opportunity to slowly but surely change for the better. Reincarnation is a subject that many isekai anime simply refuse to recognise, yet the connection between Rudeus’ previous existence and the present lives up to that theme. He demonstrates his readiness to work hard and his refusal to repeat the routines of his former life through his desire to learn new languages.

  • Soundtracks: The background soundtrack is made by Yoshiaki Fujisawa. He is the producer and director. In the “Best of the Best and Worst” Winter 2021 season, there are a lot of programmes, but Mushoku Tensei stands out from the crowd for a very good reason: a star-studded ensemble of Seiyuus, most notably the comic god Tomozaku Sugita for portraying Rudeus’s inner voice, with their performances pushing straight out of the gate to perfection. For the 2nd Cour, which is moving higher, that is something to keep in mind. Veteran composers Yoshiaki Fujisawa and Jin Aketagawa have once again inscribed their names on a work-in-progress with such sound and music concepts.

Even better are Yuiko Oohara’s songs, which, like Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, have once again demonstrated her talent for writing calming melodies. The only difference between this OST and her prior works is that this one is also influenced by Spice and Wolf and is just as amazing. The interesting fact is that her songs in this episode truly DO have a connection to their equivalents in the programme, including Tabibito’s (Traveler), Mezame’s (Awakening), and Only, which denotes Rudeus’ (Only) love song to the three main females. What symbolism, WOW.

  • Quest of Memories: Bushiroad Games, a recently launched console game publishing label under Bushiroad, will release the game. The label’s teaser trailer not only showcases the Mushoku Tensei game but also the upcoming Revue Starlight visual novel, MACROSS Shooting Insight, Frontwing’s Grisaia: Chronos Rebellion smartphone game announcement, Goblin Slayer -Another Adventurer- Nightmare Feast, and more.

  • Main Characters: The main character in Mushoku Tensei is Rudeus Greyrat. Because of his past, he takes care to avoid being conceited or arrogant. He is therefore incredibly self-aware and modest since he does not want to back to his previous behaviour. He is a compassionate person who will support his friends and stand up for his family when necessary. People hold him in high regard because of his versatility and ability in many areas. Rudeus is extremely nice to others, which frequently makes them feel uneasy.

  • Complex Magic System: The very intricate magical system that Rudeus stumbles upon and develops great talent in could make you think of a video game. The magic in Rudy’s universe is based on Mana, a power that every person who uses magic possesses but that when mishandled, may wreak havoc. There are several degrees of magic to learn, making it similar to a talent that players may hone via repeated practice just as in tabletop and role-playing games. Mushoku Tensei could be for you if you enjoy magical systems, while some viewers might prefer a world where magic is a more nebulous, enigmatic force.

  • Variety: Mushoku Tensei, like many fantasy works, follows Rudeus from his birthing until his old age, therefore his existence is divided into several extremely distinct chapters. Some people will like his early years, when the world still appears full of wonder, while others may prefer the later, more adventurous moments if they are bored with his early years and are sick of his inappropriate behaviour. The future episodes may appeal to those who didn’t appreciate Rudeus and Eris’ time spent in an adventure group during the last portion of the first cour.

  • Season Two Gets New Visual: The forthcoming Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation’s Season 2 anime has unveiled a new teaser image and revealed that Yumi Uchiyama will continue to voice Rudeus Greyrat. In honour of the second season’s premiere in 2023, the anime held an event on that day when five of the finest episodes, as chosen by the fans, were screened. Animation for the follow-up is being handled by Studio Bind, who debuted the first trailer earlier in the year.

  • Manga and Anime Same: The only reason the manga is one upcoming season of the anime is that it omitted one light novel volume. Because the manga proceeds so slowly despite all of the skippings, reading it to find out what occurs is pointless because you will also be trapped waiting.

  • Manga Ends: After eight months of publication, the Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation manga’s Eris-centered spin-off has come to an end. Six chapters make up Mushoku Tensei, which will be collected into a single book and released on November 28. The manga’s storyline depicts Eris after she departs Rudeus after they conflict with the Dragon God Orsted. She travels to the Holy Land of Swords to fortify herself and grow out of her immaturity.

  • Manga Special Cover: On November 25, the final 26th volume of Mushoku Tensei by Rifujin na Magonote will be released, along with a special book that will show the cover created by the novel’s illustrator Shirotaka. A timeline of Rudeus’ existence and discussions with the illustrator and author will be included in the special book published to mark the conclusion of the light novel. You can see the cover below, and it costs 1430 Japanese yen ($10).

  • A Masterpiece: Recently, I saw Mushoku Tensei, and ever since, it has grown to be my all-time favourite isekai. I wouldn’t say I’m a major lover of isekai; rather, you might say I’m a moderate fan since I only watch isekai when I’m confident the programme will be excellent.

  • Enjoyment: I like Jobless Reincarnation a lot. Although a touch above average, it was generally an enjoyable watch. There are a few things that may be enjoyed by everyone, but it isn’t any different from other anime in the same genre.

  • Overall: Overall, Mushoku Tensei is not the most inventive Isekai because it makes use of several fantasy clichés that you’ve probably seen before, such as magical systems that resemble those in D&D and a magical civilization that is home to fantastical races. However, these cliches may be consoling in trying circumstances. Rudeus’ warped mentality should under no circumstances be overlooked, and his intentions to improve do not enough to excuse his deeds. Other than that, Isekai fans who prefer following a character on his or her life path as they work to better themselves and their powers will love this anime.

  • Upcoming Releases: Within 17 days the next volume of the manga will be released. This will be Volume 20. Mushoku Tensei Anime Adaptation is Finished with 23 episodes. The final volume has been released in the Japan Light Novel Volume 26.

  • Similar Anime and Manga: This anime is similar to some of the other anime such as Ascendance of a Bookworm, Full-time Magister, The misfit of demon king academy and more.

  • Why should you watch this Anime? The fact that the powerful trope has a solid justification is another plus. He can be smarter and consider all of his alternatives since he has the experiences of a 34-year-old man in a child’s body. He researched and trained himself throughout his formative years. He develops into the strong figure we know in subsequent episodes as a result of this. It is compelling enough to warrant repeated viewings.
